Braden Karony, former CEO of SafeMoon, was found guilty by a federal jury in New York on charges of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. The verdict followed a 12-day trial that exposed how Karony and his team misled investors about the token’s design and liquidity safeguards.

Prosecutors revealed that SafeMoon’s leadership falsely claimed its liquidity pools were locked by a 10% transaction tax and assured investors that insiders could not execute a rug pull. In reality, the team exploited the token for personal gain while publicly denying any developer holdings or trading activity.

Karony now faces up to 45 years in prison and forfeiture of illicit proceeds. The case highlights ongoing regulatory scrutiny of cryptocurrency projects making unsubstantiated claims to investors.
